@Bubbly, isn’t it a huge social responsibilty for YC to know that because of stature in the entertainment industry, he has to perform, behave and guard his life closely to be a role model so fans all over the world will look up to him and give to society because they want to do it for him.
@BabySky
“..he has to perform, behave and guard his life closely to be a role model so fans all over the world will look up to him..”
Nope. It’ll only become a responsibility to a person or in this case, a celebrity, if he’s faking how he lives his daily life.
If that person is always staying true to himself, then this should not be seen as a responsibility.
To me, YC is surely not the type that will fake his actions in order to become the perfect personality…
…that his fans or the general public want him to be.
He’s more this type >> what you see is what you get!!
After all, he didn’t hesitate to say: “fxxx off” should he feels that he’s being mistreated
…and not only that, he had it recorded in an album and distribute it to supporters all around the world.
Can’t deny, he might have offended some “angelic” fans of the group along the way, apparently the “pure” image of the group were somewhat tarnished by that two tiny words, but meh! ..he doesn’t give a damn. That’s YC for you.
ps: Ofc, the above are strictly my personal opinion.
@Bubbly
I quite agree with you that the YC I first knew in 2010 didn’t care much about ‘keeping up with appearances’. He smokes, he drinks and he hardly smiles or waves to his fans at the airport. He hides behind dark shades and thick scarves to cover his face. The celebrities I’ve known before were ever so careful not to tarnish their impeccable image in public. He was unlike any of those I’ve seen before but he was REAL. The sexy dances in his concert performances in US rankled and offended a lot of people but he didn’t really give a damn. That’s how BADASS he is and he knows it!
And against my better judgement, haha, I ended up rooting for him, supporting him and speaking up against those antis who bashed him unnecessarily or said the meanest things about him. That is what this guy has done to me.
I sensed a change in him when he first went for his individual fan meet in Thailand (for SKKS) without his other members in 2011. That was the first time I saw him smile and wave to the thousands of fans waiting for him at the airport and from that time on, his confidence grew. Therefore, much as I like his singing, I wholeheartedly support his acting efforts because it allowed him to get away from the shadow of his former group and develop his other talents and draw in a new fanbase.
Well, he still smokes and drinks and even closed his twitter account (to our consternation!). Is he a good role model? Not if you are seeking perfectionism. He makes you laugh with his dorky ways and his smile is like sunshine bursting out from behind dark clouds. Behind that gentle facade is a wall of steel and tenacity. He speaks his mind even if it may mean losing some fans. That’s PYC for you. As REAL as it gets!
@jyjpathfinder
Very well said!! *applause* couldn’t agree more.
“The celebrities I’ve known before were ever so careful not to tarnish their impeccable image in public. He was unlike any of those I’ve seen before but he was REAL.”
So true!! REAL should be made his middle name, I approve, haha.
“And against my better judgement, haha, I ended up rooting for him, supporting him and speaking up against those antis who bashed him unnecessarily or said the meanest things about him. That is what this guy has done to me.”
OMG!! THIS is me, hahaha…just what’ve this guy done to us? *sigh*
@BabySky, my friend here said it all.
>> “he still smokes and drinks and even closed his twitter account (to our consternation!). Is he a good role model? Not if you are seeking perfectionism.”
See, if perfectionism is what these ppl are seeking for, then they wouldn’t be looking PYC’s way in the first place – simple, just wrong person, haha. He ain’t perfect. He knows and so are his supporters. He ain’t no god. He’s a human, a badass. He still can afford to do things his way, all because he’s the imperfect PYC.
I guess the majority of his supporters adore him simply for the person that he is, not the perfectionist that he is not.
So yes, there should be no pressure on our bad boy here, haha.
