121218 ‘Crazy Rabbit’ Han Jungwoo, It’s possible because of Park Yuchun
[OBS Plus Kim Sookkyung reporter]

To all the actors, all the works they encounter are their destiny. Through such works like their destiny, either they can not represent their capabilities or they can fly with feathers endowed by those works. Actor Park Yuchun who is shaking women’s hearts with the fever of ‘Jungwoo Sickness’ these days. To him, probably, ‘I Miss You’ is a work which came as a promising destiny.
# ‘Crazy Rabbit’ Han Jungwoo, Park Yuchun is the only one who can make it possible
Park Yuchun, who have had favorable comments on his impressive performances for his previous roles as Lee Sunjun, a representative ‘picky guy’ of Chosun in ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal,’ as Song Yuhyun, a considerate ‘caring guy’ in ‘Miss Ripley’ and as a wacky character, but with charisma in ’Rooftop Prince,’ is taking a big step toward credentialing him as an actor with compelling acting skills through ‘I Miss You.’
Park Yuchun is playing Han Jungwoo in MBC Wed/Thursday drama ‘I Miss You.’ In this drama, Han Jungwoo, a captivating character called as ‘Crazy Rabbit’ is a detective in the violent crime unit who has cheerful personality with thick faces and is chasing criminals as a beast with suppressing his longing toward a woman.
‘Han Jungwoo’ is born as a round character via Park Yuchun who completely turns into a detective who fits the nickname of ‘Crazy Rabbit’ and has showed all of different dimensions of a figure throughout charismatic look, emotions of sorrowfulness, longing, and guilty toward his first love and the nature of thick faces.
What are the reasons why there is no way that Park Yuchun can not be ‘Han Jungwoo himself.
The answers were found from the Press Conference of ‘I Miss You.’ held at Yangjoo, Kyungki-do on the 17th. That was the result from Park Yuchun perfect analysis on the character and all the hard efforts he made to represent it.
Particularly, for the spontaneous relay of the baton from child actor, Yeo Jingu, he put a great deal of efforts. He intensely monitored previous four episodes not to lose anything for Yeo Jingu’s characteristics.
Park Yuchun said, “I tried to express the feelings viewers could grasp from Yeo Jingu as much as possible. I think that is the right way to show the time still remains at the same time since Han Jungwoo is a character who still remains and can not escape from what he was at that time although 14 years have passed.” He explained, “For example, when I played on the swings, I tried to imitate every motion of Jingu’s kicking.”
Subsequently, he said, “I expected to show emotional condition of being instantly crazy was difficult, but I could not imagine it is this difficult. To lose rationality with the explosion of emotion at once is not as easy as we can say. I came to think that becoming the crazy rabbit was really difficult after the 5th episode passed.” And, he added, “It is true that those parts are difficult through the shooting process, but I am gradually getting free of it. I feel I get more used to it in the 5th episode and I am having various experiences.”
As mentioned above, Park Yuchun left himself behind and perfectly transformed into Han Jungwoo. Then, how much he himself resembles Han Jungwoo? Han Jungwoo is a a character who has been longing and waiting for his first love, Lee Sooyeon (Yun Eunhye) for 14 years. I was wondering how Park Yuchun would do if he were in the same situation as Han Jungwoo.
He started, “I think the separation of two people in the drama are different from the general situation in which two people came to stop loving each other or had a big fight so that it may be possible to wait for such a long time with all of the mixed feelings including guilt.”
Park Yuchun frankly said, “If it is possible in the real situation, I am not sure how much it would be good or bad. If I were in the same situation as Han Jungwoo, I could wait since I think my feelings are closer to being sorry than to having a feeling to start the love again. But, I also think it would be really hard and I really don’t know because I haven’t experienced the same situation.”
# The messages to be delivered via ‘I Miss You’
Due to the heavy elements dealt with in the earlier episodes, it must be difficult for actors to consider their performances. Park Yuchun, who are in the middle of the story may feel more difficulties.
He voiced his opinion in this drama, “This drama is a melo and dealing with a dangerous theme. There were lots of controversies for the childhood part that this drama went too far. I think this drama should be the one which can make viewers look more into its social issues and make them shed tears than just a simple melo drama.”
Then, he spoke of his aspirations for this drama, “I think this drama will be completed by clearly delivering the messages that were intended to tell the viewers from the start and within that message, the thick melo is embedded. So, I will try harder to lead the story without missing any line between Jungwoo who is the character I am playing and the detective which is my occupation in this drama.”
Moreover, for ‘I Miss You,’ while enthusiastic performances of the actors are in center of the topic, the curiosity about the ending will be increasing. With the strong impression of the prologue previously released, there have been various opinions on the ending.
He carefully spoke about his opinion, “Personally, I think sad ending may be better than happy one. Whether the story goes into the tragedy or not, I would like it to end sadly than happily.” He explained the reason as follows, “I have shed a lot of tears in this drama and I may get used to it now so that considering the flow of the storyline, sad ending may leave a stronger aftertaste to viewers or the cast.”
# Secret methods to be loved by veteran actors in every work?
Park Yuchun has been loved and praised by veteran actors who were performing together with him in every work. In ‘I Miss You,’ again, he is showing such a good chemistry with Song Ok Sook called as ‘brood hen couple.’ Is there any secret method to be loved by veteran actors?
He said, “A few days ago, I watched this drama with my family after the shooting ended. At that time, the scene in which I was hold by the mother (Song Ok Sook) was aired. I am not doing that well to my mother in my real life. My mother has only sons and she feels lonely since there is not much conversation with us. I am trying to talk with her as much as possible. But, to my mother, I am not behaving with such a familiarity as described in the drama. So, I felt sorry for her when I watch that scene together with her.”
Then, he informed on his secret method as follow, “I am more likely to get along well with seniors than people in my age. I am behaving well with charms (Aegyo) and thick faces within the proper limit.”
# Whatever he is doing, Park Yuchun is always unique
These days, after any drama starts, it is common that many members of the cast give promises that what they will do if the drama reach a certain level of viewing rates. Whenever I look for such promises, those are mostly expected ones. However, Park Yuchun was unique. He gave a very refreshing idea as his promise, very different from other actors generally has given.
Park Yuchun gave his promise as follows, “If the viewing rate will exceed 20%, I will donate tangerines and rice to the poor in the name of ‘I Miss You’ Team.
I hope ‘I Miss You,’ which has had an increasing viewing rate due to Park Yuchun’s excellent acting exceeds the viewing rate of 20% and his benign promise will be realized.

” ‘Crazy Rabbit’ Han Jungwoo, Park Yuchun is the only one who can make it possible.”
TRUTH! The thing about uri Actor Park is he tends to add his own lil’ habits here and there to liven up the character he’s portraying and make it his own.. if another actor were to play this role, am pretty sure it’ll not be the same HJW that we are all so in love with now, haha..
“Park Yuchun frankly said, “If it is possible in the real situation, I am not sure how much it would be good or bad. If I were in the same situation as Han Jungwoo, I could wait since I think my feelings are closer to being sorry than to having a feeling to start the love again. But, I also think it would be really hard and I really don’t know because I haven’t experienced the same situation.””
This is one of the many reasons why I always enjoy reading/watching his interviews.
lol.. coz he always give the questions serious thoughts before answering, that’s why!).. he never sugarcoat his answers!! <333
You can always expect honest answers from this baby (that’s why sometimes he’s slow in giving his answers
“Then, he informed on his secret method as follow, “I am more likely to get along well with seniors than people in my age. I am behaving well with charms (Aegyo) and thick faces within the proper limit.””
Right! Whatever he does, he seems to always know the limit to it.
And he’ll ensure that it’s always within the proper limit, for you know, anything over, it’ll turn ugly >///< haha..
Can’t really imagine any other actors doin’ the aegyo thingy like uri HJW in this series..
